North Head Sanctuary Foundation is working with Government agencies towards the establishment of Car-rang-gel Sanctuary on North Head at the gateway of Sydney Harbour - a flagship for Australia's environmental resolve and a celebration of our natural and cultural heritage.
We are a not-for-profit organisation in which everyone works voluntarily knowing that what they are doing is worthwhile and is benefiting the environment. There are a range of ways in which you could become involved and be part of the action.
We have a group of experienced volunteers working in the Nursery. They sow seed, pot the seedlings, check for insect attack, water the plants and keep records of all that is being done.
When the seedlings are mature enough, some ground is prepared and the seedlings are planted out in areas on North Head. This program is extending the area covered by the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub ecological community.
Would you like to join these volunteers, either weekly or on special working bees to plant out seedlings?
The Visitor Centre focusing on the various heritage meanings of North Head, including Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub has been operating since January 2009, firstly in the brick building (Building 21) and subsequently in Building 20. It is staffed by volunteers each weekend from 10am – 4pm.
Come and visit and decide whether you would like to help in one of the ways mentioned above.

Please note that you need to be or become a member of North Head Sanctuary Foundation before you can begin volunteering with this organisation.
Contact the secretary (email at the end of this page) if you feel you could help.
