Volunteering with North Head Sanctuary Foundation

We are a not-for-profit organisation in which everyone works voluntarily knowing that what they are doing is worthwhile and is benefiting the environment. There are a range of ways in which you could become involved and be part of the action ....

Volunteer in the Nursery
Help with weeding and planting
Be on the roster to staff the Education Centre
Create displays for the Education Centre
Help to set up and operate stalls at public functions
Photograph native plants and wildlife for our collection
Enter data into the plant database
Prepare information leaflets about plants of North Head

Volunteering in the Nursery

We have a group of experienced Volunteers working in the Nursery. They sow seed, pot the seedlings, check for insect attack, water the plants and keep records of all that is being done.

When the seedlings are mature enough, some ground is prepared and the seedlings are planted out in areas on North Head.

This program is extending the area covered by the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub ecological community.

Would you like to join these volunteers, either weekly or on special working bees to plant out seedlings?

Volunteering in our Visitor Centre, "Bandicoot Heaven"

The Visitor Centre focusing on the various heritage meanings of North Head, including Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub has been operating since January 2009, firstly in the brick building (Buidling 21) and subsequently in Building 20 and is being staffed by volunteers each weekend from 10am - 4pm.

Come and visit and decide whether you would like to help in one of the ways mentioned above.

Click here to see some of the flower photos that are displayed each season in the visitor centre.  The photography is by our volunteers.

Contact the secretary (email at the end of this page) if you feel you could help.
